Left and Right Hemispheres

The Human Nervous System is connected to the brain via a cross connection, so the right hemisphere controls the left side of the body and the left hemisphere controls the right side. If you suffer an injury in the left brain, the affected body part will be right, and vice versa. Because of this crossing of the nerve pathways, the left hand is controlled by the right hemisphere, and the right hand by the left hemisphere, as shown in the following figure:

 

The skill capacity between the two hemispheres appears to be unique to humans. The brain processes sensory information, controls and coordinates the movement, behavior and homeostatic body functions such as heartbeat, blood pressure, fluid balance and body temperature. The brain is responsible for cognition, emotion, creativity, memory and learning.

 

The brain is acting like a symphony orchestra, several areas interacting with each other. In addition, it was found that when a brain area not specialized, it is damaged, another area can make a partial replacement of their functions.

LEFT SIDE OF THE BRAIN

The left hemisphere is the mechanical part able to recognize groups of letters, forming words, and groups of words into phrases, both in regard to speech, writing, numbers, mathematics and logic, as necessary powers to transform a set of information in words, gestures and thoughts. Mainly governs the right side of the body. Processes information using the analysis, which is the method to solve a problem by decomposing it into parts and examine these one by one.

PYTHAGORAS: Was a Greek philosopher and mathematician, best known for the Pythagorean Theorem, which actually belongs to the Pythagorean school and not only to Pythagoras himself. He claimed that everything is mathematics, and studied and classified the numbers.

RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRAIN

The right hemisphere is to develop and process information is different from the left hemisphere, the center of visual-spatial abilities nonverbal specializing in sensations, feelings, prosody and special abilities, and visual and audible language as art and music. Integrates various types of information (sound, images, smells, feelings) and transmits them as a whole. The right hemisphere is considered to be the receiver and handle spatial orientation, responsible for our perception of the world in terms of color, shape and location. Mainly processes information using the method of synthesis, making up or forming the information from its elements. Controls the left side of the body.
